Aðalheiður Halldórsdóttir

Dancer with Iceland Dance Company since 2003. 

Nationality: Icelandic

Education: Iceland National Ballet School. A guest student at the Tanz Akademie Köln. Dance and choreography at ArtEZ Dans akademie, Arnhem.

Experience: Aðalheiður has worked with various choreographers during her stay with the company such as Rui Horta, Jo Strömgren, Alexander Ekman, Alan Lucien Öyen and Erna Ómarsdóttir. She has also taken part in three co-productions of the Iceland Dance Company and the Reykjavík City Theatre. Aðalheiður was nominated as the dancer of the year in 2006 and received two nominations in 2010 at the Gríman Awards (Icelandic National Theatre Awards). At the 2016 Gríman Awards Aðalheiður won in the category dancer of the year for her solo in What a Feeling by Halla Ólafsdóttir and Lovísa Ósk Gunnarsdóttir produced by Iceland Dance Company.

Out with the dance company Aðalheiður has worked with many Icelandic choreographers as well as working on five productions at the Icelandic Opera. Aðalheiður is one half of the creative duo Vaðall who has created several pieces. They created for example “Flest um fátt“ for Iceland Dance Company which was nominated at the Gríman Awards 2007 for Best Choreography.
