The Great Gathering | [ Íd ] Íslenski dansflokkurinn

GG1The Great Gathering
by Ásrún Magnúsdóttir and Alexander Roberts in collaboration with IDC dancers

IDC returns with this heartfelt performance at Reykjavik Art Festival. An indoor square in Seltjarnarnes becomes the venue for The Great Gathering, which was first performed at Norður og niður.

A large group of adults and children dance together with buzz in the ears, stereo of sound and steamy fog. Splashing in puddles with bleeding noses, they live in another world where they are never invisible. Spinning round and round – holding hands – the whole world a blur.

The performance is free and located at Eiðistorg.

Dancers: Elín Signý Weywadt, Ernesto Camilo Aldazabal Valdes, , Hannes Þór Egilsson, Hjördís Lilja Örnólfsdóttir, Inga Maren Rúnarsdóttir, Sigurður Andrean Sigurgeirsson & Þyri Huld Árnadóttir

Children: Carmen Lea Einarsdóttir, Dagmar Edda Guðnadóttir, Jökull Nói Ívarsson, Kolbeinn Einarsson, Marínó Máni Mabazza, Rafn Winther Ísaksson, Sigríður V. Gunnarsdóttir, Una Yamamoto Barkardóttir, Ylfa Aino Eldon Aradóttir & Þóra Dís Hrólfsdóttir

The Great Gathering was first performed at Norður og Niður Art Festival in Flóa at Harpa concert hall on December 29th and then again December 30th. The festival Norður og Niður took place 26.-31. desember.
