Hany was born in Vienna, Austria. He received his education as ballet dancer from the Nel Roos Academie in Amsterdam and was a dancer with Iceland Dance Company from 1988-1995. Hany studied graphic design at the Icelandic University of the Arts and after graduation he worked several years for various advertising agencies in Reykjavík and in his own design company.
Dance is an important part of Hany‘s life and post his ballet career he pursued a career as professional tango dancer, parallel to his work as graphic designer. Along with his partner and wife, Bryndís Halldórsdóttir, he pioneered the tango scene in Iceland and co-founded the Reykjavik Tango Club. Hany and Bryndís went on to work for the M2tango Studio in Copenhagen where they teached and danced for 12 years, also touring as teachers and performers, mainly in the Nordic countries. Hany later became co-owner and marketing director of M2tango Studio and completed a diploma course in digital marketing from Bigum & co. Copenhagen.
Today Hany lives in Reykjavík. He was appointed Marketing director of the IDC in December 2023.
