Iceland Dance Company is saying farewell to 2017 with a BANG as we will be premiering two new pieces on the 29th of December at Sigur Rós’s Arts Festival Norður og niður in collaboration with Sigur Rós and Reykjavik Art Festival.
The two pieces are The Great Gathering by Alexander Roberts and Ásrún Magnúsdóttir and At Dusk, We Embrace by Erna Ómarsdóttir and Valdimar Jóhannsson to brand new music by Sigur Rós.
Sigur Rós take over Iceland’s largest arts venue Harpa December 26th – 31st 2017.
Sigur Rós cordially invite you to go to hell. “Norður og Niður” means “go North and go down”, but translates more accurately as “everything’s going to hell”. For six days across Christmas and New Year the band will set up residence in Harpa to fill the shortest days with the brightest array of music, art and performance from Iceland and beyond.
Norður og niður will host musical performances, art installations, dance pieces, film screenings, spoken word and impromptu happenings, many of them featuring the extended network of friends and collaborators that they have met and worked with throughout their twenty-plus year career.
