The idea for Open Source came to Helena Jónsdóttir while listening to a lecture by Florian Cramer’s lecture in 2002. Cramer discussed the influence of unlimited copyright and open sources, the sources in today’s multimedia society. Helena decided to create a piece that was not only about such sources, but also used them to power up the piece. Therefor the piece is destined to constant rejuvenation. The script and the idea is the authors, but each production is colored from multible contributions of the participants each and everytime. Also by the culture and history of each place, musical tradition, media, folklore, environment, weather and winds.
