From an interview with Jo Strömgren:
What does Kraak Een, Krakk Twee mean?
That’s Dutch.
And?
Those who want to know the answer can look it up in a dictionary — then the piece gains an extra layer of meaning after the performance. I try to title my works that way. Instead of being an introduction to the piece, the title becomes a bonus afterward.
So what is KRAAK about?
In this piece, I’m mainly exploring girls. My own dance company consists solely of men, so I’ve often worked from a masculine perspective. Here, I’m trying to understand girls.
Premiered in March 2001
