A human landscape of photographs.
Duration: 60 min.
The piece premiered on February 4th 2023 at the Reykjavik City Theatre.
The mind is in a fog.
Each and every thought is clouded, drifted over with a snow.
Surroundings, that were once familiar, have turned monotonous and uncanny.
Just as the ptarmigan changes its colors in order to survive, one must respond to the environment and adapt.
It becomes one with the mountain, seeks cover, vanishes into thin air.
It does not want to be seen.
It is as if running blood starts to clot in the vessels.
Everything becomes slow and fast at the same time.
Every glance is tied to terror, each breath too loud, and every bodily cell is overwhelmed by the beating of the heart.
Every movement is demanding.
Have I been uncovered?
Hands fumbling in the fog.
The skies clear.
There is no hiding the hurt, neither inside or out.
A wounded spirit, a broken heart.
Crevasses covered with snow.
Time goes on while the deep lingers, patient in a bed of white.
In the work Crevasses, four dancers perform in a landscape of photographs by RAX, Ragnar Axelsson. The images are used in an unconventional way and give the dancers a chance to disappear into the scene.
Inga Maren Rúnarsdóttir has worked as a dancer and choreographer for many years, both for the Iceland Dance Company, as well as independent dance groups. She has worked with a number of choreographers, including Damien Jalet, Erna Ómarsdóttir, Anton Lackhy and most recently Kristján Ingimarsson in Copenhagen in 2021.
